Based on the screenings that I've been to, most include a short introduction by the film society, sometimes with a guest speaker (critic, film professor, etc.) Usually, they also include a short post-screening discussion. And every one that I've been to has been projected from film, not from a DVD. I'm definitely there for at least a few of these.
